According to Bloomberg, the Chinese deal with General Motors to buy the Hummer brand has failed to get Chinese government approval...and GM will shut it down, so...

...no more Hummer! Unless there's another automaker to take it on. Pity!

“In today’s much more environmentally conscious world, it’s a brand that just doesn’t fit in.”

That just about sums it up, eh ? :wasntme:

Farewell Hummer.

One can only hope, the cheap nasty imitation copy that GM tried to pass off as humvee that is, not the genuine millitary vehicle.

I have a couple of friends with the proper H1's. Once you understand them they are a great vehicle, to big thought, they dont suit our bush tracks, they are just to wide.

But I agree, they are a total pain in the but to work on.

Yeah the real Humvee is a purpose built beast:twisted: - the derivative civilian stuff is just crude yank tank off roader with Bling. No doubt someone will pick up the brand - even if it is nothing like the current H2/3. Like BMW did with the mini - has nothing to do with the original mini but they cashed in on the image.

my comment was directed more at the H2/H3's.... you need an arm with 3 wlbows to change the oil filter on a H3.....

i helped do some running repairs on one of the H1's and even that seemed incredibly difficult to work on.

Good deal that AM General - you got the bux from GM for the name, got paid for production of units for GM and now you still own the rights to the original! :BigThumb:

A chinese made hummer would have been great, you could have picked one up on ebay for $250.00! Only problem is they would have broken within a week......
