Suspension- up and down while moving

Hi all. My D3 is going up and down at rear and possibly front then seeming to right it self constantly. Read some posts and assume it might be a leak or faulty suspension. How do I find out where and how quickly does this need to be fixed before it might damage the compressor? It is a D3 SE diesel with 170000 on the clock.

Moving or stationary? Stopped, mine will level itself which can be very pronounced sometimes.

As WhiteD3 says, air suspension models will self level (usually noticed at slight ramps whilst sitting waiting for the traffic lights to change) but if yours is doing more than that I would get the local dealer to check for leaking as any compressor can fail through being overworked.

Moving mate. I do not think it is a leak. cranked up off road mode and parked it for five hours. It stayed up. When moving upto and including 100kmph it is moving up and down. AMV suggested a sensor and offered kindly to have a look. Let you know.:)

I am fairly sure I found my problem- I got under and had a close look at each wheel and suspension this morning.

The right rear sensor, wiring and wiring loom guard which is nice and neat on the LHS rear is exposed and clearly damaged on the RHS rear. I had the local mechanic get the D3 up to scratch for the rego transfer road worthy. They change the windscreen and rear disk and pads. The problem only occurred after this!
My pogo stick problem seems to be caused by the nice gents replacing the brakes. Human error, not air leaking nor the computer is a relief. Now I have to decide if I can trust the mechanic to fix his error or take it to someone who might be have more Landover knowledge. It seems difficult to se how he could have do the damage without realizing and what I assume is his neglect not being fixed and left to me is making me think I should get others to fix the fault then give him the bill. That would likely end in a dispute of course:wasntme:.

Took it back this morning. They said the loose wires were ABS and low brake pad warning wiring. The plastic guard for that was missing but the local in Doncaster East ( and AMV Ringwood later ) said the wiring that was loose was nothing to do with the height sensor.



They tied the loose wires with a cable tie- I then took it to AMV. The suspension stayed put and the problem was fixed. No one is sure what they did to fix it- lol. A helpful gent thinks it may be a "earthing problem. Or perhaps the ABS is integrated with the EAS (electronic air suspension) in one of the computers. "


It is working even though we are not sure how they fixed it :o . The sensor was solid. There is a lot of wiring to each wheel under the car which looks at risk when off road. Does this cause people much problems?
