my record drive in drive out is 6 hours. But I didnt have to worry about aircon stuff, the oil cooler for the manual, the EGR stuff and a few other bits and pieces that the owner had either diabled, removed or otherwise made easier to work around.
I was in a fully decked workshop, had the vehicle on a 2 post hoist and had a dolly crane for the lift.

drive in at 9,, drive out at 3.45 not a bad efert i say so my self,,, very pleased,,, clutch is heaps nicer to drive, no more clunks as i found the hand brake drum just sitting there:o, spent alot of time cleaning the belhousing and the release forks, and all moving parts, nice new spigot bush,

very happy,, i did find that when the box was out and i was changing the clutch,, i could move the DM fly wheel slitly in eather direction,?? is this right;)

Good job Stig:)
Yes normal movement is 5mm to 10mm either direction, but shouldn't 'rock' in and out.

I was gonna say, thats ages lol. You shoulda done it in 3 hours :wasntme:
Dave what do you mean the air con stuff, I don't know if it is different on a defender (probably is), but I've done a D2 clutch before and didn't have to do anything with the air con. Would love to know what's involved with the a/c.
And as far is I know, the r380 in the fender doesn't have an oil cooler....could be wrong though.

when i was removing i was looking at the AC pipes,, and they seemed ok,, and weather to take the trans cooler loop off or not, in the end i left the cooler on,,

the fly wheel dident move in/out just side to side,, thank god it was allrite, i was heaps worryed it was a fly wheel problem, and big$$$

but next time get a mate to help you mate the gbox with the engine, on your on is a b***h:D

i was also serprized at the meat left on the plate, considering we bort this car jsut to tow a 3T van offroad, there was heaps left,, but still all this to change a $3 part:D:D

yep...
on the aircon front I was meaning in terms of securing the aircon compressor somewhere out of harms way while you were hoiking the donk.

depends, If Im also renewing the cooling system hoses, intercooler hoses and the engine mounts as well then yes....
when you said hoist I assumed you ment an engine hoist.

I can see why you're removing the engine to replace the coolant hoses, some of them are an absolute nightmare to replace.
