Fl2 cv's?

Hello all,
my td4 fl2 has 61k on the clock and I think I hear faint clicking noises fron the front hubs on full lock at low speed. Is this a warning of cv trouble?

Normally yes but I have had then click from new and the front right one on my FL1 has been clicking since I have had it an I have put 95,000km on it and it is still going fine but clicks on turns.

If it was me I would wait and see - if it gets worse replace.

I had/have the same noise in my FL2 at 30k. The dealer diagnosed the front cv's and then replaced one side only:mad:, surprise surprise the noise is now gone from one side but still on the other.

They're getting back to me :lol2:(3 weeks and counting)

Get it booked in and get it fixed while you still have warranty.

What year is yours? Wonder if it was a faulty batch or a design fault.

I was just coming on here to post about cv's. Mine is an 09 model and has only done 9k kms and I can already hear a clicking sound when I turn and pull into my driveway, that is pathetic if they are already screwed.

I had this recently on my 08 TD4. Very loud clicking from front/right side. Had been going for a while and I was waiting for the next service.

Took it in last week, all the service team looked up when they heard the clicking as I turned into the parking bay - so no description required from me.

On pick up I was told they could find nothing wrong with it and that they were baffled. Everything looked good and when they lowered it to check the noise, it wasn't there.

1 week has passed and no sign of the clicking.

If I might suggest, being on full lock is an extreme situation for the steering and drive systems. It puts full pressure from the pump in to the lines and rack, putting the pump under pressure, and the rack is fully extended, while the outer CV's are also at their maximum angle. I would be surprised to NOT hear any noises. And never mind any suspension travel that may be happening at the same time. I avoid full lock at all costs because of all this, on any car.
I think a good measure or test is to go around a corner you normally travel and check for noises. Even apply a little throttle just to add a bit of load. If there is no noise then I would suggest all is good. If you need to, get one of your Service guys to go with you for a drive and demonstrate the noise, if you can. That way you have the back-up of someone else in the Service Department who has heard the noise. No Technician drives the same way you do. That's what I do with my customers.
