We have a family of roos on the property that drink from our sort of ornamental dam. Its lined with a poly type dam liner. The big roo decided to take a swim and panicked when he couldnt get up the slippery liner. Dug his toes in and ripped it in a few places.
Does anyone know if these liners can be repaired with any off the shelf stuff like liquid nails or sikaflex e.t.c.?
Any suggestions would appreciated as the dam has an island in it on top of the liner and too hard to replace.

yep they can...
providing you can get it clean enough you can use the underwater sealastics to patch on a new piece, or use a pool liner repair kit.

wot he said, Google "Pond Liners" and whoever sells them will sell the repair kit for your particular quality of liner.

After you repair it, get a "Shoo Roo" for the dam.:Rolling:

You might already have your solution from one of the above suggestions, but if not, a cheap option is a Liquid Nails version that glues wet things. A bit more than the normal liquid Nails, but works really well even if the surfaces to join are wet.

for all the effort you go to for the possibility of it not working, just buy a new one. How big is it?

Its 15 mtrs x20 mtrs with an island on top of the liner.
Too hard to replace. I think I will go with the patching suggestions.
Thanks to everyone for their input.
We have heaps of shoo roos , see on target threads, but these guys have been here a long time and dont normally cause a problem.
In fact I quite enjoy looking at them. Just the one family of big roos, all the rest are whiptails or pretty face wallabys whatever they are called.
Thanks again.

Is it worth covering the liner with old nylon carpet or similar to protect it in the future????

If you really can't get anything else to stick try a ultra rapid set concrete llike Emco15. Pack it into freezer bags tied off, place underwater at area to be patched and pierce. mix water in and place over area. Wear gloves as it gets hot enough to burn even underwater (voice of experience).
Denso tape would be another last resort option. Would stick via greasiness and repeal water via same but I'd rather be covered in emco than work with that stuff again.

We had carpet where we waded out to the island but it grew weeds so fast we took it out and made a bridge out of a plank.

It does not have to set underwater as the water level is now way below the tear.
Thanks.

In that case don't use emco it'll probably melt it if it doesn't set fire to it!

if youve got the tear above the water line just purchase a similar piece of plastic and then expoxy bond it, sikaflex it or if its suitable heat melt it together.

So much rain just now I cant get to it.
Tried a test on an offcut with Liquid nails and plumbing solvent glue but neither satisfactory.
So many types of sikaflex I will have to do some research first.
All the supplier could come up with was try Hydraseal, that black boggy stuff. Havnt seen it around for a while. I thought epoxys might be too brittle and not take the movement.
