Hi All,
Relatively new to the Land Rover world so have been doing lots of catching up on various sites.
First question though is will 15" steel rims work okay on a 2004 V8 D2, hub, brake clearance etc...?
My D2 has factory 18's with 255's on it and need a set to go play.
I'm selling my old beast which has near new 11.5R 32 15" BFG Muds on it and if 15" steels are okay on the D2 will refit the beast with something road worthy and use the BFG's on the D2.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers,

no 15" rims can not work on a D2 due to clearance on the brake assembly
16 is the smallest a set of 265/75/16 are a good 32" tyre which does not affect gearing or rubbing

Sorry for having to be different Kelvin but I think you actually can fIt them, a guy in the states has done it and there is a thread in this section about it, I'm currently on the iPhone so I will get a link when I get home on my laptop (alot easier)
it's also the car that I was telling tou about the other day with the HD coils and mad flex :)

Even if 15" do fit, I would have thought that it would be difficult to find wheels in the correct stud pattern.

Yeah exactly, it would be something that you would have to find in the states and get shipped over here i'd say

This is the guy i am talking about;
I'm stuffed! - Land Rover Repair Forums - LRRForums.com
He lists the site that he bought the rims from, i'm not sure how the hell the stud pattern is the same though, i am very confused, he mentions something about drilling out and spacers in another thread i read, still got no idea though haha.
Also kelvin i think he says in his sig that he also runs a 2 inch spacer lift under the springs which would probably explain how he got the long shocks in there, still though, it flex's amazingly well for HD springs.

When I looked into this in South Oz the answer was - totally illegal
You cannot go under the smallest rim size fitted factory.

Thank you all for your info.
Was only trying to save a few bucks hanging on to a good set of tyres but it is not to be, will now be on the look out for some 16" steels/alloys and tyres.
Cheers,
Fish.

For what its worth; if you don't want to keep the 18's, check with your local Landy workshop. I found they were more than happy to swap for a set of 16's as I was dreading replacing 18' rubber....Cheers Chris.

Fair point, but so are 32's and 33 tyres (in QLD anyway), yet so many people fit them in they're d2s.

I guess because usually D2's don't look like big dickhead patrol's and cruisers that are driven by ******* who do stupid **** in them!

I'm sure Sneigy had a D2 in at the shop years ago that was on 15's.

I have taken off the 18" alloys and fitted 16" genuine steels to my D2 and it's a great improvement I think. It seems to handle better and be more comfortable (on and off road)
I run 235/70 R16's on mine, as fitted as standard for 16" rims.

A friend of mine fitted 15" BMW 5 series steel rims to his DiscoII TD5. He widened it to 8J and fitted 31x10.5x15 Cooper MT'S. The rims clear the calipers and backing blates without any cutting. He did a 20mm body lift. Suspension is still standard at this point. Will post more photos later.

A pity this thread has not come up with a definitive bolt-on replacement 15" wheel for late D2s. They don't look as elegant as the 18 inchers, but it occurred to me that the 15" wheels (9R15 Desert Duellers on Peco Star wheels) on my old RRC might significantly contribute to the smooth ride that I am chasing for my 2003 D2. Another set of Pecos would be good - they're built like a brick 'loo. I once hit a gutter in the RR (ice on the road) and comprehensively demolished a rim, and the centre spider didn't bend whatsoever.

Got 17" king rims on mine with allterrain's. Cost me $650 all up 4 new rims and hardly used allterrain's from my local Bridgestone select mate.
