Skytrek route, SA - Anyone done it?

Its track No 8 of 20 in this months 4WD Action Mag and was wondering what people thought of the route.

If its an OK drive and recommended, thought we may cut accross from Mildura to Wilpena, spend a day at Willowsprings, drive the Skytrek, then continue to Alice...

Is it worth the extra few days detour?

Thoughts please.

Jon, They close it if the weather is inclement. Friends that have done it say it is very picturesque on a clear day:) We were there last year but it was closed due to bad weather.

Thanks Justin. What time of year where you there? If we go, it would be about 3rd / 4th April - dont know what the typical weather would be first week in April?

Jon, we were there early June, it was unusually wet apparently. Love the country there, we planned on going back again April - May this year, but might not be going now:(
Weather in early April should still be sunny and warm to hot:)
If we do go, I'll definately be doing Skytreck, and possibly stay at Rawnsley park station.

I was there a few years back and I would say definitely worth it. Spectacular views of the Flinders. Hopefully we will be there again towards the end of September this year.
