Hi, I am new to Landrovers, I have a discovery 3 2005 TDSE. I have been advised to select sand and to turn off dsc, however what other advise do people have? Someone mentioned taking off rear mudflaps as they can get caught in sand? All comments and advise would be mot apprecated!

Hello DiscoDick! Welcome aboard!

The mudflaps can act as ploughs in soft sand, but generally just tear off in the process, so it's best to remove them.

Yes, turn off DSC and remember that if you change TR modes or switch the car off, DSC will re-activate and will need to be switched off again.

Lower your tyre pressures first and foremost. If you get stuck, back off as soon as you start to slow and dig in. The maybe reverse out and/or lower your pressures a bit more.

Carry a good spade so you can dig out around the wheels if you have to.

If you do get stuck, change to Gravel, Grass, Snow until you're out then go back to sand (and remember DSC)

That's all i can think of at the mo!

Hello DD

Firstly welcome.

Secondly please read the FAQ at the start of the page.

Thirdly please also use the search facility which would show up a recent discussion:

If you have any further questions after that please feel free to post them in that thread.
