Remote Key doesn't work after 3 days

When I bought my 2000 V8 it didn't come with a remote key so I bought 2 and had them coded.
They work fine until you don't use them for a couple of days and then they won't unlock remotely. I have to use the key in the door lock and then when the door is unlocked I can use the remote unlock button to turn off the alarm. After that they work fine until I lock the car and leave it again for 3 days or more.
Anyone had a similar problem?

I haven't had this problem, but sounds like your battery is on the way out.

i have a 2001 v8 discover that does a similar thing.
doesnt take 3 days though. sometimes just overnight.
ussually occures on colder mornings. maybe its just coincidence.
have been searching around a few forums but havnt found a solution. can u let me know if you find one.

The computer goes into sleep mode. I think most were reprogrammed by the dealers from about mid/late 2001 to do this after 7 days instead.

Yep - this isn't a "fault" - it's a standard Landrover setting.

You can have the interval between when the key was last used and when the computer goes into "sleep mode" changed - not sure how you do it or if it can be done using Nanocom - but it definitely can be changed.

Mine is closer to 2 weeks than 2 days. Because I work away on mine sites, I nearly always have to unlock the Disco using the key in the door and then cancel the alarm when it goes off the first time I use the vehicle when I get home.

To prevent that I unlock with the key in the door which reactivates the computer, and then I relock and unlock with the buttons on the key to deactivate the alarm.

I have the same as i work offshore .You can simply use the key to unlock the driver door and press the unlock remote button . No need to lock again first from my experience.

Thanks. I'll give both methods a try now that I'm back to working away from home again. In the past, I've just opened the door after unlocking with the key, and then put the key in the ignition, but by that time, the alarm has usually gone off. Once I turn the ignition key, the alarm shuts up.
