Everyone else is too scared of offending anyone and that ****ed things IMO.

A few weeks ago I saw Clarkson in tears as it came to an end. Nothing anyone does will be Top Gear. Even The Grand Tour didn't do it, as Clarkson recognises, although it came close.

Top Gear was not a TV show, it was an institution. I bless Amazon for giving it another chance, but it was broken. The BBC will rue their decision for around ten years.

The forth (sic) season will not be the same, as Clarkson clearly said through his tears. I can only hope it will be better.

That said, I have magazines ( Car ) going back to the early 80s where May wrote with intellect and humour. I doubt they are done.

The Guardian is the only place I've seen any stories about it. Do you have another source?

Of course the Guardian is the only place you've seen it. Who else would bother? Which was pretty much my point.

Yes, if old, loud engines are your thing. Top Gear managed to appeal to almost anyone, Discomick excluded, because they were brilliant.

They also got people to open their garages up. Who else got Jay Leno to let them to drive his cars? Even one of the blokes who took over Top Gear, Chris Evans, let May drive one of the rarest Ferraris ever.

I have no idea how this got posted. I was composing something I didn't intend to post as it was. Funny, really, as it could happen to any of us...
