It also begs the question about factory sponsorship for the category. How does Ford ( for example) feel about sponsoring a Ranger with a chev in it ??

An engine you can't buy locally without frigging around and importing one, hardly a 'Local' engine.
Does anyone in Australia still make engines? I think not.

LS3 are available locally. Here is a link to one dealer.

    GM19370416 - GM PERFORMANCE CRATE ENGINE LS3 6.2L 430HP SUITS VF HOLDEN

There are more. In any case, these days shipping in is not as onerous as it used to be. Get a US dealer to pack one up and hand it to a shipping agent and in a few weeks it arrives here. Pay the duties, charges, GST and it is yours.

    Here is another option

This 40 Series Land Cruiser has the 10.4L V8 heart of a semi | CarsGuide - OverSteer

Or maybe they could run the Isuzu 4jj1 engine tuned by Reaper Performance Diesel

😈😈 Australia’s fastest, diesel only,... - Reaper Performance Diesel

    V8 Ute racing returns
1985 110 Dual Cab 4.6 R380 ARB Lockers (currently NIS due to roof kissing road)
    1985 110 Station Wagon 3.5 LT85 (unmolested blank canvas)

It is only a 3208 not a real semi engine. The 3208 was known as the chucker Cat as Caterpillars original marketing intention was that these engines not be rebuilt but replaced and chucked out hence the nickname.

They can of course be rebuilt, I think in many ways they are a better engine than people give them credit for, plenty are still going as well, they were a bit thirsty though, but they sounded nice!

I don't think they care much as long as the signage pays.

World champion Sprintcar driver Donny Schatz , currently racing at Archerfield Speedway this season , has a huge Ford emblem on the side of his sprintcar.

Ford payed him a nice tidy sum to put it there.

410 sprintcars do not have Ford engines ...or Ford derived anything.

What makes the money make sense I suppose but I think the public relate to the twin-cabs more from a brand point of veiw. If you ask the average spectator watching the 410s, would they know who made the actual car ?. Whereas the redneck twincab crowd would nearly be a cult following for brand.

...and this is something promoters and marketing gurus only know too well.
