Dunno why they call this section (where the bridge is) Mulgoa Rd, it's Castlereagh Rd.

I suggested to the RMS that the Jane St lights go red first to allow traffic to clear between Jane and High but I was ignored.

Probably only because their dimwits didn't think of it first.

"Having a member of the public telling us what do do? Heaven forbid! Just because they pay our fat salaries Whatever next?"

Yep, it has always been Castlereagh Rd there.
Mulgoa Rd is south of the old highway/High St.

IIRC Mulgoa Rd ended east of Castlereagh Rd whereby traffic heading south out of Castlereagh Rd did a left onto the hwy then right into Mulgoa Rd. The diversion of the hwy to along the railway line was news to me when I was in the area again probably more than 30 years ago.

That's how it used to be, Mulgoa Rd ran alongside Sinclair Ford, then it was realigned to opposite Castlereagh Rd 20 something years ago when the new council chambers went in on the opposite comer where Ron Barrett Motors used to be.
I left the area in '01

I used to frequent the Total servo on the diagonal corner from Ron Barrett (BMC dealer**), near the Ambulance Station (which is about t be demolished). We went Total because (a) we lived just up the road in Ladbury Ave and (b) he allowed us to open an account when we moved back from Carnarvon in 1972.

** I was very tempted to buy a brand new long Leyland Terrier V8 that he had on the floor for $400 - I wanted it for my Transit van.

The old bridge is down: Photo Gallery Discovery

I was talking to a bloke at the site this morning and he expected the new bridge to be in place tonight.
