Whilst I have an obvious interest in the Welford article I thought Sam Purcell's 2 part article on the Madigan Line was full of excellent practical information for those willing to take on such a trip.
His 130 carried a huge payload and performed really well. Losing an axle cap might not be a worry in town but it wouldn't be wise to leave it like that in a remote location when you are ploughing through sand all day. Certainly I wouldn't.
Obviously it is impossible to constantly come up with "new" concepts when doing a mag and there are inevitably commercial realities that come into play.
Subscribers come and go and whilst a recovery article might be old hat to some, it is probably news to a certain % of people who buy the mag.
At least Pat's mag is still a mag with ads, not a marketing house flogging cheap garbage through a mag.
