I still had that character feeling about it...as we all know the UK top gear the guys are pretty much characters...so i don't like how this top gear has the same deal. I know its owned by the same people so this is why we get that but at least they got rid of that other bloke!
What seems to be happening here in a lot of cases (but probably not all cases) is that the people who have regularly persisted with the program throughout its teething problems have a higher opinion of the show than those who just watch an occasional episode or a small part of an episode.
In some cases of course that is just because different people have different tastes.
However I believe there is another influence at work here.
Time and again when I have recommended one of my favourite shows to someone else that I know has similar taste in TV to me, I have had to endure the sight of them obviously bored out of their brain, but usually too polite to say much.
The same thing has happened in reverse. I have had shows recommended to me by people whose opinion I respect, but I have been disappointed watching my first episode.
A large part of the reason that happens is because often a lot of our enjoyment of a show comes from our familiarity with the characters and the relationships between them. If we come to the show uninitiated, it is a bit like watching the antics of a lot of strangers we don't care much about.
The same sort of reaction seems to be happening here. Those who have watched most episodes know full well that Steve is trying too hard and that we will cringe at some of his performance. However because we have come to understand that that is the way he is at the moment, we either tick it off as another example to confirm our judgement of him or else we just accept it because at the moment he can't help himself. Of course we hope he will grow out of it.
I'm sure that if some of those who are praising the show were to watch their very first episode next week they would be a bit disappointed. I am equally sure that if some of those who are criticising it had made the effort to watch every episode, they would have a higher opinion of the show.
Of course some people will always hate it. There's just no pleasing some people. :p:p
I think that assessment is as close to the facts as anyone is going to get.

Steve doesn't bug me at all anymore.
Warren is a natural story teller (seen Peking to Paris?)
James will be good in this show.
I dislike the 'speed enhanced' footage, if it wasn't going fast you can't make it look like it was.
The camera and production work around the track has improved greatly.
The rest of the show is well on the way, I look forward to next Monday night.
After some uncomfortable silences he reached his big punchline and it was only whatshisname's (cartoonist) responding laughter that got the audience to laugh along politely....
I was in the audience for that. We laughed politely cause we couldn't hear Ahn over the storm rattling on the hangers tin roof.
between takes, Ahn kept the crowd entertained when the storm dumped so much water on the place that it flooded parts of the hanger floor and they had to cut the power to make the wet cables safe.
Now I know what he said, I can tell you he used the same joke during his impromptu stand up and we ****ed our selves.
Seeing the boys in action during the recording gives me faith. They are all a giggle and seem to have a genuine raport happening. If they can get some more of that background honest fun on camera, they will be doing very well.
By the way, congrats to the cast and crew for their efforts that night. The storm made it really hard, they had a loooong night but soldiered on and got the job done.
Just watched the last eposode of the current UK series.
First part of the show covers the Vauxhall Bathurst (Commodore) together with a new entrant to the market here the Vauxhall Maloo ute.
Let you watch to find out what they said however thought some may be interested in the track times.
Do not read further if you want to wait to see it !!
Maloo was faster around the track than the Aston DB9 and the Bathurst was 0.1 second slower than the BMW M5.
Downloaded it last night - will watch later.
The last show was so funny... and the maloo ute... Sexy! Love that ute!

Just cant get into the local Top Gear in any form the mag is as boring as the t.v show, it may be based off the British series but it seems its lost in translation on the way here on how to deliver a good show.....
Also wouldn't put any of the local presenters anywhere near a car as none of them can drive, nor commentate or deliver as a presenter.
The sooner they bin it the better for all concerned, unfortunately you cant reproduce an award winning show here, its a unique show in the UK and should be left well alone.
