Even Jeremy Clarkson that hates the things... In the episode where he drove the Ford Raptor .... reckons they were brilliant given they were basically the price of a spec'd up ford fiesta in the UK :o If they could import those F150's for ~ $50,000aud ... they'd take the market.

I can already see all the middle aged women flocking to them 'cos they obviously look stupid at school pickup time driving a "little" 3.5ton cruiser..... Must keep up with the Jones and all of that :D

Only thing paj on that is the shell , made made laugh those ads that tried to link dakar with a stock paj.

I disagree. While the dakar models were highly modified, quite a bit of it was based off the Pajero Evo, which was a short production homologation model. the dakar rules would stipulate what changes can be made, but I could guarantee that more than just the body stayed the same.

The specs are actually pretty good relative to the base model offering.
An acquaintance of mine had one for a few years, it looked pretty radical for a street car

The pajero dakar performance was pretty good overall. They won a number of times, whcih has to amount to at least a small bit of praise.

I agree, the Paj is a great car and very underated, and I'm fairly sure they were in the same race class that the Land Rover Bowlers were in.

I thought the Pajero was a better package than the Prado.

When I sold my D2 I bought a Pajero (couldn't afford a D4).
Nice to use as a daily driver and touring 4WD.
Great performer in the desert.

Not the character of my D2, but very easy to live with.
