We run both the Triton and Ford Ranger here with the 2.2l engine, they are both horrible poorly built vehicles... at 40k they are scrapped.

The only vehicles that last are Mahindra's, GAZ, KAMAZ and one 1993 110... we are now buying Landcruisers with the old 1HZ, no emission laws in Madagascar...

It is fair to say electrics and clutches don't last, 260 days of rain a year doesn't help...

Mate of mine regrettably just sold his immaculate 80 series,for $18K,almost 400km on the clock.

A Camel Trophy told me that Madagascar is very muddy, and an Attenborough told me that part of it is very dry and spiky.

I'd much rather the Chummins over a motor made by VM. I know VM have lifted their game recently, but you can't compete with a Cummins designed engine.

Yep pretty much, the East Coast has 'mountain' range of around 1200AMSL, its wet, especially now in the monsoon, Southwest coast and the plain that drops away to the West is dry... big sand dunes in the South. The North coast and St Marie island or "Libertalia" have as good coral reefs and beaches as anywhere in the world... interesting place.

Photos where I am taken 1 hour apart... anyway to stay on thread the LDV would do well, just need MT's...

Well, i realise the D1 in particular and perhaps the D2(?) have high depreciation, but the D3 and D4 seem to hold it okay from what i have seen. Not as good as a toyota, but better than say a jeep grand cherokee. Of course, more expensive cars will typically depreciate more in dollar terms, because a drop of say 10% is more dollars for a more expensive car.

I checked some grand cherokees the other day and they had lost 40k in 4 years with average mileage. Thats $200/week. I dont think modern discos are as bad as that.
