I wouldn't let oil leaks put you off. My 02 got to 210,000 without leaking a drop but that is rare. Then it started leaking (rear main, timing cover etc).

You would probably be pretty safe leaving a range rover classic most places. Its not fast, it not really something prized enough to steal and strip

I would have thought most modern vehicles have RCTA.Rear Cross Traffic Alert,which works brilliantly in this situation.
