3 Cheers for the Mt Barney area!

Have just spent a challenging and enjoyable couple of days in the Mt Ballow area for Guide (not girl) assessment and previously climbed Barney and have to commend the locals for exceptional taste in locale. Bloody beautiful, rugged, variety of landscape, weather, flora and fauna (just off to dig one out of my scalp now).
    Nice.

Sadly I don't get out enough despite living so close.

East peak up and down peasants ridge.

Once when I was young and stupid. Some uni mates and I did our own "Three peaks" challenge and climbed Mt Warning, Mt Barney and Mt Tibrogargan in 24hrs. We made it but the drive nearly killed us with 5 of use cramped up in a mates crappy little Datsun car. Roads were not as good as today either. Not sure why we did it really. Also I remember wasting time blundering around between east and west peak on Barney trying to find way down. Probably a well worn track these days.

    West Peak

Been a long time since I was up there, having kids puts the brakes on good through walks.
