    Molly Mac Pack

    Hi all,

I found this pack ( Molly Mac Pack - We took the pack out of the backpack ) recently and thought some on here might be interested. I have been emailing MacEntyre who designed and makes it. It seems like a nice piece of kit, and I intend on getting one. Certainly different from most of the current designer packs.

That's pretty interesting, by my calks around 1250g for the pack; and made from cordura it will last a life time. Looks good for fine weather walking.
Though it it rained for a bit I'd image a pack cover may suffice to cover all your gear. However I've yet to find a water proof one.
I think eventually if the rain was heavy and consistent water would make it's way between you and the harness, and potentially wetting clothes, food, sleeping bag ect. If you were to wrap each item in a water proof bag than you may as well buy a light weight standard pack with a dog bag as a liner to achieve the same thing.

Not sure what you'd want all those tools, but if that was the intended use stuff getting wet doesn't matter.

Jason - It certainly wont suit everyone. I think it will suit me, I already have a heap of dry bags which I use for sea kayaking, and also use for day to day camping at different times. No more digging around in a big bag for things suits me.

When I get it I will do a road test in some dodgy conditions, along with my hennessy hammock and report back. Could be in a few months time though as we are moving house and having a baby all in the next couple of months.

Id be interested to hear what you think about it once you get out there.
Any idea much it weighs with the waist belt and shoulder straps? I can only find specs on the frame.

Interesting idea. I've just started looking into packs for hiking actually. I went and tried on this one:

    Strezlecki | One Planet

Waterloc canvas material looked pretty awesome to me.

No mate but I will email Mac and find out. It is bloody light though. The shoulder straps aren't as padded as other packs, but are relatively wide - more so than other packs I think.
