    Guy Fawkes River

We walked down to the Guy Fawkes River from Chaelundi campground for a 4 day walk and explore along the river last Sunday, but because of recent rain the river level had risen to a height which precluded us from proceeding.

Stayed put for a couple of days hoping the water would recede, which it did, but not enough. The walk back out is strenuous (at least for an old bugger like me) 3 hrs to do 4k's, rising 600 metres in that distance, some at around 1 in 5. Legs are still complaining.

I've been down there a couple of times in the past, it is an awesome spot and yes the drop down into it is pretty steep. Walking back up wouldn't be fun but would be better than getting swept away in one of the many crossings.

There are some interesting characters to be found up around Dundurrabin and Billy's Creek.

We've been down there a number of times ourselves, through walk to Newton Boyd and also explored the Sara a couple of times. This time we were supposed to be checking out the Aberfoyle and Housewater Ck.

Funny you should mention Dundurrabin as we swore we heard banjos playing as we drove through there
