Nice report CC,
Something else to add to our list of must do's!!
Cute kid:)
I'm guessing he gets that from his mother:D
Top report CC, great pics, looks like a lovely area.
Baz.
Great story there. Have climbed Barney many times by different routes but haven't been game enough to take my daughter up there .... maybe I know the track too well :o
Great effort for you and your young bloke.
You really seemed to have a great time. Your son will treasure the memories of that trip :) I went on a hiking trip with my dad to the mountains at the Swedish Norwegian border when I was about the same age as your son. I still remember those days as if they were the last week.
CC & Jasper (what rank are you Jasper, if dads a colonel? :p)
Well done guys, great report and a great trip, after a very short time the pain goes but the memories remain!..
Keep training and think about Kokoda in about 3 or 4 years (earlier than most kids would do it but by the sounds of in in 3 or 4 years he'll be well ready!)
The history and scenery and artifacts along the kokoda track are well enough to keep you distracted!..
again well done guys (please tell me Jasper you did not eat all that plastic food after such a great trip!)
congrats!
My old man as the local policeman in Rathdowney plucked a few blokes off Barney. Where we used to live you could see Maroon, Lindsay and Barney at the same time. I was born there and love the place. Great write up mate. Your little tiger's face says it all. I have spent time at the lower portals swimming with the fresh water crays, back when it was a LONG hike to get there through Drynan land. Now, understand its a short walk from a car park. I would like to climb it one day - the complaints from the 3 kids might be a bit much but worth it!
Cheers
PS. Has the lower portals camp ground on the creek/falls become over populated now...it was only small when I went there and very few people.
