No idea, but I'm curious what this tool is exactly?
Had a rush of blood and brought a timing tool to accurately set timing on ve pumps. And was going to just advance it to the usual 1.6 but that got me thinking with wvo could it cope with more advance then that with out being an issue as its a slower burning fuel?

Just a tool to screw in to the back of the pump and put a dial gauge onto measure lift there's a few types on eBay
depends on how you're processing it.
just dewatering and filtering you can go a little bit more advanced as the oils slower burning than diesel.
blending it with proper diesel you can give it a poomteenth more
blending it with tur leve it alone
making it into proper biodiesel, leave it alone.
the problem you face is if you advance it beyond what it can deal with on dino diesel to what you can make it deal with on WVO if you have to run dino you're in trouble.

So if I advance it from 1.54 to 1.6 I should have no dramas? I mix it with diesel and some times get stuck and have to run straight diesel. Does the 300 really respond to timing advance as well as some folk say?
yes it does. My personal opinion is that going straight to 1.6 is approaching stretching the friendship and to do it in stages. (they are old motors now, all of them, including the rebuilds)
90% of motors will run the 1.6 with no dramas whatsoever but if you dont need all of the performance increase that 1.6 brings go to something a little less just in case you have one of the 10% motors
the flip side of that is some engines will happily take a bit more than 1.6 If you know the sounds of your engine and know what "bad" sounds like your ear and the seat of your pants will give you enough guidance as to where the line is for your particular engine, I prefer pump tweaking is the middle of summer when the engine and the fuel is running hottest.
In your case as its a WVO tune I'd also do it on a tankfull of clean diesel and not anything blended. (make it the second clean refill of diesel)

Thank you great advice as allways its not hard to adjust so I can do it in stages till I'm happy with it. Pump has also had a bit of a talking to and an egt gauge fitted of course so I will proceed with caution
Finally got the time to play with the timing this morning initial timing check found it to be 1.52 I think mainly because of a little movement in the timing pin for the pump adjusted to 1.57 to be on the safe side and re checked to be sure before starting first thing I noticed is it sounds much healthier no real knocking noises so road tested and and haven't noticed a real gain in performance but it is slightly better maybe a small drop in egt but I need more road time to be sure. But there is less exhaust smoke down low under load so I'm going to make the assumption that this is due to a more complete burn of the fuel I don't think I will bother going to 1.6 I can't see that little more making much difference
