    Transformer cooling oil

I have been running my Isuzu on bio for a few years now with no side effects and have just been offered a few 200 litre drums of an electrical transformer cooling oil called Shell Diala S2 ZU-1 which is a very light mineral based oil. I have heard of people using this in diesels before and wondering if anyone on here has any experience with it and how or if they refined it before use. I would imagine the process would be somewhat different to cracking vegetable based oils that I normally use. Interested in hearing anyones experience with it.
    Cheers......Brian

Looks like it is quite a modern oil so no PCB’s - http://rkpl.com.bd/wp-content/upload...hell-Diala.pdf

No idea how the Isuzu would take to it though...

Yeah, I had a look at that data sheet Gav and couldn't see anything that would be detrimental. Hopefully someone on here has used it and can give me a few pointers. Can't see why the suzi won't run on it but would like to know whether to process it or just mix it with diesel 50/50 or similar.
Might have to mix up a small batch and see how it goes.

Most people who are running mineral oils like this mix it with some petrol at about 10%. I've not done this so don't take my word, but this page has some details of thinning oils (they are talking motor oils)

My 4Bd1 in the past has run quite happily on straight light engine oils. After all, distillate is a light oil with additives like butane and corrosion inhibitors. Mix it with distillate. I used to mix 60% distillate 40% engine oil when I was working and had access to lots of of oil.

In my mind's eye I can visualise a bloke shinning up a power pole in the dead of night with a Spanner in one hand & a Jerrican in the other.

No ladder? What ever happened to 'elf & safety?

Ok bizarre , I guess you have to know my mind's eye.
