Yes Paul, the red shoulder ones known as Scarlet Macaw fetch more money that the others.
I have done all the research to start breeding Amazons which costs $3500 + but the cost of the security is very expensive and I would become prisoner in my own home.
I do not think that in Australia are Hyacinth macaws they go for more that $30000 easy but they cannot take any more out of Brasil.
I have bred many birds over the years but have kept away from exotic types for that reason.
The guy who lives next to one of my brothers also has two,but has been unsuccessful trying to breed them.Haven't seen them for a while and can't remember what type they are.He has successfully bred black, and another type,i think they are, palm cockatoos.
Been trying to do this for ages,to show how much blue these King parrots have on the underside of their wings.
This was late in the day,so is a bit grainy as ISO was up high.
I could probably clean it up in photo shop but still learning.

Good timing, very nice BIF. Love that birds
Have a look if the image it is not a touch underexposed, looks a bit dark in my LT monitor.
Paul, have a look in the histogram if there are lost information on the RHS of it.
If it is, drag the point towards the information to recuperate it. You will se that the image will become lighter

Be good to have a decent camera. My old Pentax SLR bit the dust years ago but it seems my old lenses may screw on to a digital body if I go that way.
Meanwile its a Canon pocket point and shoot.
