What's the best way to use flash on bird photography because flash always washes out colour if strong but I still haven't worked out how to do a gentle fill flash on my Nikon speed light. you know just enough to give catch lights in the eyes

don't get a chance to go chase them so they are mostly all here at home... i reckon i have about 10 more variety of birds to get yet, that visit my yard regularly then i will have to start on the shore birds down at the waterfront :D
the ones from the dead wattle farm i put in the other thread..
