some great pics there. takes a lot of patience, but that is very good for the soul. kookaburras are a fantastic bird to have in our country. are you guys shooting with VR lenses or older stuff? I use a Nikon 500 F4P MF and it is still as good as the day it was made. I have heard a lot of stories of modern VR stuff failing as those tiny motors are susceptible to rough travel and bumps in the night, etc and cost a lot to replace.
Anyone interested - there is the annual Brissie Camera Fair coming up 3rd June. Lots of trading done there with some good access to knowledge too.

Looks like fun Grounded.... a little far away for me unfortunately.
In regards to VR - most of what I shoot is with VR enabled lenses - that said if I am shooting on a tripod I turn VR off anyway. I'm shooting with a D500 and a D750, but for the last couple of months have hardly got out due to the joy of moving house!....Hopefully that will change soon. :)
While I have read similar stories about VR being fragile - I've never experienced it and it's quite astounding how much VR can help with some of the long lenses.
I've got a Nikon 200-500 5.6E and the VR is that good I can get sharp shots hand holding as slow at 1/60 @ 500mm !
Cannon gear for us.
Cannon call it IS,for image stabilisation.
We use it most of the time,it has different settings on different lenses, with the ability to turn it off.
We use Cannon EF tele lenses, with 1.4X extender at times.
Unfortunately our 5D mark3 has been for a swim,(don't ask [bigsad])we are waiting for the insurance to sort out what they are doing.
SWMBO then wants to get the model up[bighmmm]
Using an old 6D we have and the sons 7D mark 2,which i don't mind, seems pretty good, but not full frame.
So I finally got to go for a wander to explore a park area close to my new place...

Australasian Darter that was more than happy to sit and pose for me.....
Pity I wasn't carrying my 200-500 - this little guy wouldn't let me get real close at all, so this is shot with the 70 - 200 and cropped heaps...

Eastern Rosella
I came across a Wedge-tailed Eagle between Mungo and Pooncarrie that kindly hung around and let me get a couple of reasonable shots....
