Not too flash a photo (pardon the pun) but i am utterly amazed how much detail you can pull out of the shadows from this D7500. I am really glad i went the extra mile and got the 20mp D7500 instead of the 24mp D7200. the modifications nikon had made to the sony based sensor really make a difference.

i couldn't see this bird sitting on the branch till i was chasing a much smaller honey eater and happened upon this one sitting in the shadows looking at me and hit the flash and the shutter on the way through.

    Superb Bee Eater

tried to capture the colours, beautiful bird that is nesting in the front yard next door.

they burrow into the sand dune about a metre

mother, father and a juvenile in attendance with both the adults taking turns to go into the burrow.

    could watch them all day.

they fly around catching bugs and land back on the power lines into the house.

had major trouble getting anything approaching a decent shot as they are so shiny.

very rarely do you see both at the nest and even rarer to see one headed down the burrow.

Nice pics, they certainly have some speed and fantastic eyesight. We got a few pics of a pair at Byron bay not long ago,I will have to dig them out.

They are common in East Africa as well, they have a few different types, whereas here we only have the one type.
