    Post your birdlife shots

Thought that maybe we can start posting pics in a Bird thread, similar to Close Encounters and other dedicated threads.

So, here are some of my lame shots, zoom isnt the best in poor light and I hate bumping up ISA over 400... but ill post to start anyway

    What I need is a 300mm with a f2.8 (for less than $500 )

Tim (timaus13) taking aim at some rosellas

General run of the mill birds - more a practice run really than taking anything exotic.

Bird shots can be very hard to take. Mate of mine take some great shots. That's pretty much all he shoots.

    Here's a couple of mine.

Osprey taken flying over Narrabeen Lagoon. Spent way too long standing on a sand bank in the freezing cold while he was building his nest.

Took awhile to figure out how to shoot these critters. They take off when the pre-flash goes off just before the main flash. End result is a blur of wings and two legs disappearing out the top of the shot. Trick is to use manual flash rather than TTL and lay in wait until they get used to you.

Fantastic photos David, puts my efforts to shame. I would be very happy with those shots.

Yes I agree its not easy, I have HEAPS here in frame but all are 'soft' as my lens cant cope with poor light and movement

    Very frustrating, but a challenge

Not sure if these are back or not. They lived on top of a tree right next to the Narabeen Lagoon. Poor things would have the eggs only to have the nest blown away in a storm. Same thing happened a few years running. Not sure if they are back this year. Took this one in July so it should be osprey season soon.

No I'm not a member of the Birds Australia Forum. Some of those guys are very very good.

    I need a 500mm or 600mm plus a 1.4 converter
I guess that I have to sell the Defe and buy a old RR
This is the reason why, the 300mm it is too short for BIF and the images are soft
