    ISO 3200 with Nikon

This shot was taken with the Nikon D300s on manual mode ISO 3200
Selective denoise was applied on the BG and bird. Very weak application on the bird.
I am very impressed with the result! It is a big step from the old D200 and far superior to a Canon 50D or 7D
IMO there is no question that the 300s it is the camera for wild life photography.

Plus you have to add all the necessary goods to make the shed comfy for living inside with your dog

Well...you know that with the D200 was very hard to get a shot over 800ISO without loosing details.
If you are talking about the D3, it is in a diferent class.

The D80 & D200 are really not good over ISO800. The D300s isn't as good as the D3 and D700, but the D3s changes it all again. Auto ISO gives me the ability to set the camera in manual at a fixed shutter and aperture and just boost the sensitivity. Great for action shots.

That is exactly what im doing now for my action shots. However, given the time of the year in Tassie, we have low sun and plenty of changing light conditions (shade etc).

So I have to use up to ISO 1600 else I wont get hardly any shots through. At least I can practice and see how they turn out, and if im really lucky, get a shot that is under ISO800 and close up.

I certainly can see the D80 limitations here, but thats it so far. I am stillv ery happy with the D80

I set my D200 to Auto ISO up to 800. ISO1600 really is noisy on these cameras (D200 & D80). You should also turn High ISO NR on (I think the D80 has this).

They are a good camera all the same.

I have read that a lot of Nikon D700 and D300s owners do not use the D700 and are using the d300s all the time.
Perhaps the best combination will be D300s for BIF and action shots and D3 for landscaping and on tripod work.
