Grumpa,
just so you are aware, that blitz was only ever driven by Tom once, at the end of a re enactment run years ago!...notice no signage about it claiming its one of toms trucks?...it was used and then as was leaving it blew the motor (not exactly sure what happened but it was no go)..
so it was abandoned near the railway platform for ages, then when tidying town up it was decieded that it was a good thing as a tribute to Tom KRUSE only, so not being passed off as original.
After much arguement about what signage to put up near it, the decision was.....NONE!!
This truck tho' did help them get organised to restore the leyland badger which tom helped recover and work on during its restoration!
it is a great looking vehicle though and I was at a few meetings about its fate pushing hard for it to be removed (I of course would do that as a community service :) but alas, they know me too well!! ) they saw straight through it!
most of the work there was done by CDEP programme. I was not responsible for any of it, just present when some discussions were in place and I was calling in on a mate for a few days (was a neighbouring station to mine) but I can tell you that everyone is proud of how it turned out... and rightly so! for the town has a very small number of inhabitants but the nearby (and some not so nearby) station people all pitch in too!
One of Toms truck "corpses" (and there are a suprising number about, he was rough on them!) is outside the Mungerannie pub. (someone has posted a photopreviously I think) and used to have a S2 SWB alongside it that was bent mid chassis!!! (big time) during a storm a large poly tank that had just been installed nearby (a few k's) was blown across the flat and bounced on the landy bending it..before the tank bounced in between gum trees at the edge of the mungerannie waterhole (where it still sits today!
I havent been back for as few years but have been told the landy has been moved/taken... anyone have a photo of that?
Oh.. and the cart at Old Andado?... yeah Ive seen it but thats all...just teasing!!
Cheers
(love these photos!)
