    Treated myself also...

    To a new Nikkor 300mm F4 AF-S prime

    Now i need to save up for the tc14 and sb900

    Congrats, now I know where it is a 300mm lens to use in my Nikon when I go to Tasmania

    Quick, start saving for the TC, I need one as well

    Not even two days after order I received the Nikkor 300mm f4

    Talk about excellent service from DWI!

    Now to look forward to using it, at work and no camera to plug it into to

    Though you need a better mounting than that method.

    Yes DM, I completely agree. I tried out of curiosity what its like to control the weight of camera/lens with ball head and its sux! So will be looking at alternatives, either another pan/tilt head for the tripod, or a monopod type setup.

    Tried the lens out against some flowers I had indoors and they came out crisp with great bokeh as well.

    I guess that the mounting it is better that hand held job for sharp images.
