Ace - When taking a long exposure (30 seconds or less) on the tripod and you don't have a remote release, just set the camera's self timer (to its smallest interval) and then you won't have to touch the camera whilst the shutter is open. Of course if you need to go to B (Bulb) then you will need a remote release.
