This is very nice HDR work Derek, the colors are very natural and I cannot see a bad effect on the edges of the clouds which it is a problem with this technique on a windy cloudy days.

Thanks, I hate over saturated effects and so I work off one or more default templates in HDR Efex Pro2 and then adjust from there. As for windy, cloudy day... I wish, try hot still and humid

I do have some reworking to do as these look great on the Retina display but darker on my other display.

That it is interesting, is there any new technique to calibrate the retina display or the old calibrating devices can be used?
Are you adjusting the display to suit the printer and paper profiles or you send the work to the lab for them to adjust the files?

Have an awesome Xmas Derek and hope for more Nikon glass

I gave up trying to calibrate the Retina display. Everything looks so good anyway and I need to check if DataColor have released any software update for the Spyder before I try another time.

I send my photo's away for printing, not worth doing myself.

Hope you have a great Xmas too.

Nice work. I'm impressed by the natural tones of the photo.

How many source images/what exposure settings did you use for that photo, if you don't mind me asking??

d90 with tokina 35mm f/2.8 on my crap cheapie tripod

    i picked 5 images i liked best from 5 sets of 3 brackets that vary from 1/15s -f/18 +1.oev and 1/60s -f/9 -1.0ev and 1/60s -f/14 -1.0ev and 1/15s -f/9 +1.0ev and 1/30s -f/9 0ev

    stacked them in photoshop etc

altered a couple of things so i got it looking how i remembered it looking and didnt do much else to it from memory other than my automated framing action.

i just really liked the light at the time, i tried doing the same to a few trees that had just lost their bark and were standing out from the crowd.

this one i liked best and seemed to look closest to how it looked at the time.

this is the same tree with my 11mm set..

Nice images Inc. Looking at the leafs on the trees it appears to me that there was a bit of wind during the time of capturing the shots.
If it was so, as a matter of experimenting, try to do another PP using only 3 frames instead of 5 and have a look if the leafs are a bit sharper.
I use 3 frames many times according to the climatic conditions specially when the sky is cloudy.
    Cheers
