Thread: Flash triggers

I have three RF-603 YongNuo triggers you can try, Lou (along with a YongNuo YN560-III flash with inbuilt matching wireless trigger).

I also have a couple of USYK-3B Wireless Hot Shoe Flash Remote optical triggers you can try. http://www.amazon.com/USYK-3B-Wirele.../dp/B008M43B2U

These are for Nikon or Pentax. Canon use a different foot.

wouldn't mind having a go with the Yong triggers Ron but do you have the wireless unit that attaches to the camera or do you only have the one thats built in the flash

how did you find using them?

I used to use the Cactus triggers, which worked fairly well. They would misfire every now and then, but the for the price, you can't complain.

I ended up buying some pocketwizard PlusX triggers though. They're the cheapest of the PW's and they work a treat for my use.

yeah I did look in to pocket wizards I think they might be some of the smallest receivers too if I remember rightly

Depends on the... er... style?

I didn't like the Flex ones, they just look odd.

The PlusX's have the same range, but lack other features. I don't need more than 10 channels, and these can strap to the flash on the side.

Pending on your flash though, you'll need the little block that has the cable insert. The Canon 430's don't have it built in.

The Cactus 4's I had were definitely smaller though. I'd take a photo, but I think the Cactus's have been chucked now.

The RF603 are dual purpose. They can be used as a transmitter on camera or as a receiver on the flash.

They seem to work well.

The Cactus V5 may be better units. I sort of wish I'd bought them instead. See http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/1...er-review.html

PocketWizard are better again.

Mine should work with your gear, Lou. I'll have to check which cables I have for using the triggers to operate the camera shutter if you want to try that, too.

Although the triggers are RF603N (Nikon), the shutter cables might be for the Canon models (which fit the Pentax, too).
