My Nikon is a CoolPix

Hey Mick, I don't know what your looking for but was flicking through an officeworks catalogue (nsw) the other day and they had a V cheap canon camera... I can't think of the model but for $120 it is a total ripper of a camera. Thye were about 5-600 bucks new and they take a great pic.
If they are in stock when I am near an officeworks next it is a definite goer for myself as the DSLR can be to bulky at times.
I mean although cheap they use extremely good compnents and are not a "budget" camera except for price.
I use a Canon EOS450D for work and wouldn't hesitate to recommend that if you were looking for a good DSLR but as for point & shoot cameras, Panasonic are fantastic. I have a TZ1 that is a couple of years old now and still cannot fault it.
I have the newer model at work and it seems to be at least as user friendly as the old one - which is very easy to use. The following link will show you a bit more about it. DMC-TZ11 - 8MP 10x I.A. 28mm 2.5 [DMC-TZ11] - Panasonic Australia
The other thing I like about it is the metal frame. It is very sturdy and feels like you've got a real camera in your hand. Sort of like comparing a landy to a territory.
I have a EOS D30 cannon with a couple of lenses / flash etc.
It is a great camera, but to be honest, I don't have the artistic flair / knowledge / skill to get the best out of it. With that in mind, it was probably a waste of money.
I did see in Borders book store the other day that there is a range of books from the "dummy's" series. I picked up ":Cannon eos slr camers for dummies" so here is hoping i can learn something.
Bought a Canon ixus 80 for the misus and i am very impressed with it by and large. very easy to carry can get a little belt pouch for it and its accessible all teh time. Whack in a decent size memory card and you are away !
Myself have a Panasonic TZ 1, a 5 megapixel 10 optical zoom with 40 digital zoom.
Has inbuilt video option, close up option, normal photography option, a click and shoot option and then 2 settable options for things like fireworks, food, babies, night sky, portraits, ocean beach etc.
Memory is 2 gig sdd card and has anti shudder option as well
Had mine since 2006 taken over 15000 shots never had problem with it, fits in shirt pocket for ease of carrying
2.5 inch viewer screen
newer version is now 8 megapixal 12 optical with same issues
