    Useful programs for other photographers.....

This thread has been started because DM_TD5 made a request to sticky a thread that has what he thinks maybe a useful program in it.

So rather than stickying every thread that someone thinks has a useful program in it I will just add the program to this thread for all to see....

This may help some people with the photo competition and also in general editing. It does a lot moore than the basics - crop, resize, enhance. I use it at work and it can follow you anywhere you have an internet connection.

Best of all it's free to sign up and to use.

Had to have a look at the program you are using to see what you meant, Photomatix looks a lot different, this is a example of what the tone maping etc looks like...
Give it a go, download a free trial copy here... HDR photo software & plugin - Tone Mapping, Exposure Blending & HDR Imaging for photography

Good tutorial on how to use it here... YouTube - Photomatix and Photoshop Tutorial - Creating HDR images

These programs are free with no expiry at the end of a trial period and no watermark on your images.

    qtpfsgui
I have mentioned this program before and posted some examples. It is free and is available for Linux, Mac and Widows. It can do HDR.

    Paint.net
I have mentioned this one too and posted some examples.
In basic form it can do simple photo editing and other graphics.
Only available for Windows at the moment but because it is open source it will be available for Linux and Mac some day.

Here's a program I've used for creating panoramic photos - Autostitch. It's dead simple and best of all it's free!

    Nik Collection - Now Free

Another great set of tools that plug into Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Lightroom and Apple's Aperture is the NIK Collection.

    https://www.google.com/nikcollection/

Originally this package cost US$500... but early last year after Google bought the company they have made it FREE!!

It really is a very powerful set of tools and to get you started there is a channel on Youtube full of instructional videos about what each tool can do and how to do it:

    https://www.youtube.com/user/NikSoftwareLessons

If you use Lightroom, Photoshop or Aperture - grab a copy and have a play...

Show Focus Points - Plugin for Lightroom

If you shoot with a Nikon or Canon DSLR, this little Lightroom plugin is fantastic way to be able to analyse a shot to help you identify exactly which focus point the camera used when taking an image.

Great for helping work out why an image is not as you wanted it.

Show Focus Points Plugin for Lightroom

Unfortunately it hasn't been updated since late 2014 so many newer cameras are not supported.

I have emailed the developers about the potential for further updates, but in the mean time, the range of supported cameras is quite large:

    Nikon: D4s, D4, D3S, D3X, D3, D2Xs, D2HS, D2X, D2H, D1X, D1H, D1 - D750, Df, D810, D800, D800E, D700 - D610, D600, D300S, D300, D200, D100 - D7100, D5300, D5200, D5100, D7000, D5000, D90, D60, D40X, D80, D70s, D50, D70 - D3300, D3200, D3100, D3000, D40. Nikon 1 series cameras will be added shortly.

    Canon: EOS 1D X / 1D C, 1D Mark 4, 1Ds Mark3, 1D Mark3, 1Ds Mark2, 1D Mark2 N, 1D Mark2 - 5D Mark 3, 5D Mark 2, 5D Mark2, 5D, 6D, 7D - 70D, 60D, 50D, 40D, 30D, 20D, 10D - 700D, 100D, 650D (Rebel T4i), 600D (Rebel T3i), 550D (Rebel T2i), 500D (Rebel T1i), 450D (Rebel XSi) , 400D (Rebel XTi), 350D (Rebel XT), 300D (Rebel), M, EOS 1100D, EOS 1000D. Most Canon Powershot models should work fine too.

If you use Lightroom 5 or above - give it a try..it's free
