Oh dear! Which camera do I take?

As you know I'm off to the US on holiday tomorrow.

But I'm undecided as to which camera to lug around.

    Do I take:

    1. a DSLR (Pentax *istD) and 18-200mm lens (and maybe one other lens)
    2. a DSLR look-alike (Fuji FinePix S5500) with 10:1 zoom
    3. a point and shoot (Kodak C310 4Mp or Nikon Coolpix 2500 2Mp)
    4. a combination of the above?

The weight is the key. The Pentax is relatively light (for a DSLR). I have a Lowepro CompuDaypak backpack but I'm not taking my laptop so that's a relief! I don't know whether to take the flashgun.

I can probably fit 3-days worth of clothes in the backpack for my trip to a car show in Vancouver. I think I'd like the DSLR for that but I'm not sure.

    Decisions! Decisions!

DSLR and 18-200 would be my choice given that selection. THe P&S are of the old school and won't give good shots. The Fuji I don't think gives as good a range zoom as the 18-200.

I would take the DSLR with the 18-200 and wouldn't bother with another lense if weight is an issue

I'd go the DSLR too. I take it that the car show is indoors. The DSLR should give you better pictures in lower light conditions than the other cameras with smaller sensors.

No, the car show is outside at Van Dusen Botanical Gardens in Vancouver.

The Kodak was one my son owned. I'd never used it until yesterday. I was thinking compact and portable.

    I took the DSLR.

Today's shots taken as we flew through the snow-covered mountains around Vancouver didn't come out very well - nor did the pix of a hooker picking up a john outside my hotel.

I wanted to post them in the new photo comp but I need the sequence of shots, not just a single pic.

By heck, there's a few crackheads around here.
