Electrical Connection

Just to clarify, you can buy power boards with a "Safety Switch " incorporated.
So you then just plug a 15 amp extension from the Caravan park outlet to the power board ( you may have to cut off the Power board 10amp male plug and fit a 15amp one but probably not) and then plug in whatever you want, either through a Pom to OZ adaptor or cut of the pom plug and fit an OZ one.

Oz 10 amp male plugs are available for about $4 , which can easily be connected to the wires and incorporate a wiring guide. However this is technically illegal.

Although on second thought AFAIK it is OK for amateurs to fit anything past a powerpoint ie you can play with extension cords etc but not with house wiring

The outlets in caravan parks are 15A - they have a larger earth pin than 10A outlets.

If your inlet to your van/vehicle is 15A then you need a 15A lead with a 15A plug on one end and a 15A socket on the other.

If you do not have a 15A inlet on the side of your vehicle - and I guess you wouldn't, read on:
A 10A plug will fit into the caravan parks 15A socket so you can use a 10A extension lead into your vehicle.
In Australia it is the cable supplying the outlet that is protected. There is no protection for what you plug into the outlet like in the UK where the plug has an inbuilt fuse.

It is not "illegal" to plug a 10A extension lead into a 15A outlet.

And just to set the record straight Australian supply voltage is 230V and has been for many years now. Well, it is in South Australia and I am certain that this applies everywhere.

Finally, back to your original question :)
Power is usually only available at commercial camping/caravan places.
There are several books available that list free camping places. These usually have a toilet and a few may even have a cold or hot shower.

If I were you, I'd be "scared off" from setting foot in Oz. :o

Having said that (and recognising that not all Oztralians know what they are talking about) many of your countrymen have undertaken similar tasks with no problems.
