    Bedourie Ovens

So, after much deliberation, I decided to buy a bedourie, as it suited me more than a cast iron camp oven.

Used it tonight with good results, but I noticed one annoying aspect - it isn't stable when holding it by the handle. When I filled it with water, it kept wanting to tip out either side when I picked it up.

    Anyone noticed this?

Hi Ranga, we have used our Bedourie for quite a few years now and find it to be very satisfactory. We haven't noticed any problems with it tipping as you describe. I have just gone to look at it and can see that the attachment points for the handle are pretty much half way up the sides of the oven, so there is a stability issue when it is almost full. I guess we haven't filled it very often. We oil ours after washing it and have kept the rust at bay so far. Cheers, 130man.[ Hope the vehicle issues are all sorted by now.]

It looks like we need a comparison test of all available types of camp oven as, like vehicles, they all have their good and their not so good points.

I've used most of the different types during the last 30 years so may, when time permits and other thinks settle down a bit, put togethr some sort of comparison table.

They are great for doing pizzas Ranga just fold up a sturdy strip of foil for under the trivet that comes up the inside edge. Makes getting the pizza out in one piece easy.

We are now back at home so happy travells.

Can recomend Whyatts in Geraldton for a solid service before heading up into the depths of WA and NT. There was no-one servicing Broome when we came through so after Geraldton next services are Darwin and Alice Springs.
