Fridge mounts
G'day guys,,
Not sure if this is the right section to be asking this, but here goes anyway.
We have an Engel Fridge, and I have a slide to put it on in the back of the ute. At present, I strap it down when we use it, the rest of the time its in the shed.
My question is, if I mount it perminently into the ute, (to the slide) should I place some rubber feet under it first?
My theory is it will just help soften the ride a bit, thus maybe both the fridge and the slide may last a little longer.
Also, when you get dirt/dust in your slide, whats the best way to clean it?
All your thoughts would be apreciated thanks.
Cheers Chops

I don't think I'd bother with putting rubber under the fridge mount. If you weren't using the mount, you'd just sit the Engel on the floor of the ute anyway. They are designed to handle this. My old Engel has only ever sat on the floor of a ute or in the back of a wagon all its life - it's over 20 years old and still going strong. I have only bought a slide for the new Engel because it's much bigger than the old one and so bloody heavy.
To clean dust out of the slides - compressed air through a fine nozzle should be plenty. I wouldn't use CRC or similar - puts a film of oil in there and will run beautifully for a while, but the dust just sticks to it and you'll need to be cleaning it way more often.
Cheers .........
