Steve you probably need a new generator and run it on shellite for a week in order to clean it out.

First day of a 4 week trip and my beloved cooker has decided to give me problems with the pump.
When you undo the pump knob to pump it up its releasing the pressure in the tank.
Anyone know what the problem might be? I'm guessing there is some sort of one-way valve in the bottom of the pump unit. Hopefully its an easy fix.

I have a recollection of dismantling one and getting the pump plunger all the way out.
On the end is a rubber washer shaped like a "C". Mine wasn't pumping air (just went up and down uselessly) so I coated things with vaseline, re-assembled, and it pumped very nicely for quite a while after that.
It was one of these (bought in the 90's so pretty old now):
See how the pump has a black 'lug' to attach to the sleeve? Twist that and pull out.

Thanks David. I'll pull it apart and see what I can work out.

Hi
A spare part supplier was mentioned in an earlier post about colman stoves, The name of the company was TW Sands & Co. Melbourne. Try Google for the address & Phone.
Hi there, I rang Colman in Queensland and was informed BCFare listed as parts supplier. With not a lot of BCF enthusiasim a part was obtained. The prefrance seems to be sell a new stove. Keep an eye out for old stock in camping shops. The parts fellow your refering to I think is in Cardigan st Carlton, has a lot of the old stuff there including the old lamps and things well worth a look.
Thanks for the responses.
I pulled the plunger pump out, couldn't see anything wrong, and re-assembled. Works fine now so have no real idea what the issue was. Maybe something in the valve at the bottom and pulling it apart dislodged it.
