Looks like the ban has extended to Vic. I was in BCF and Rays Outdoors last Sunday and not one to be seen.
I asked a salesman at BCF and was told that they had about 14 out the back.
There were twin burner one on sale though.
Turn the trivet over correctly, then wack a large frypan on AND wrap a windshield around the whole shebang .... and see just how hot the thing gets ...
Ive seen folks using these with a BBQ plate and a windshield ...

Came across this today.
Following on from your earlier notification in FF re the Lunch Box Butane Cookers I exchanged several emails with the NSW authority who has been instrumental in having these devices withdrawn from sale. I believe all states have now followed.
In the documentation that can be downloaded from the NSW Fair Trading Website they admit that "misuse rather than non-compliance with the Australian Standards contributed to these explosions". The incidents were used as justification for further testing to justify their withdrawal from sale. It is a pity that they are no longer available as in my experience and I am sure that of many other users they are quite safe to use if the Manufacturer's Instructions are followed. One of the reasons for failure to comply with the AS is a very good example and this is regarding debris preventing the canister from being released should the 'shut off' mechanism function.
The link below provides good examples where there have been explosions and also the detailed investigation that followed each incident. I can't believe some of the things that have been done.

Interesting and doesn't really point to a stove defect, does it. I can understand an explosion if you run the stove on top of another stove!
So 2 of 3 cases seem almost certain that's what happened. The other is undetermined, but there is at least mention of another stove and indications that another heat source was required for the explosion.
IMHO its the Nanny State.
The Darwin awards will suffer greatly.
I actually know someone who lit their stove with the trivet upside down and it whooshed and burnt both his forearms.
I told a bloke yesterday that they were now banned in NSW because of the misuse and he resolved not to use his again, which I think is an absurd overreaction.
Still there are lots of them around based on the small/zero number of cylinders that were left in Kmart during the recent long blackouts on the Central Coast.
I have never bought one purely because IMHO they take up so much space compared to a Kovea burner and screw top cylinder.
