I've never seen the point of normal swags myself - bit silly seeing roofracks sticking up 1/2 meter high or half of the rear storage area taken up by so much mattress and canvas. A well designed hiking tent like the Exped Venus gives you room for 2, room to stow your gear and weighs around 3Kg and is less than 40cm by 15cm packed.
Enough ranting. This swag looks pretty cool though and more compact than most!
Someone might need to explain to me why a swag and not a hiking tent!

you are correct a swag takes up a big chunk as its one piece and having multipul items allows you to fill the nooks and crannies
i for one hate being constricted in a sleeping bag, my sway has sheets, doona, blanket, pillow. i can pack it up quicker than a tent sleeping bag and mattress. the good part about having multipul layers is if it gets warmer the doona goes under the mattress for more comfort as it gets colder it comes back onto........it hard to cuddle up withyour bride in a sleeping bag
now weather protection, as soon as the weather gets nasty most swags fail in one way or another eventually.....soooo do tents but i normally find myself looking for better protection when using swags mainly because ours are not the dome type. its the only downfall i see with swags....the amount of room they take up doesn't btoher me
our kids are now asking to switch to swags as they see them being easier than a tent, self inflating mattress and sleeping bag.....considering they have to do it all themselves.
at them moments we have the option of camper trailer, tents (centre pole touring tents) or swags....swags we haven't really done a family holiday yet. the bride and myself take the double swag everythime whens its just the two of us
you wont see me in a little pokey nylon tent constricted in a narrow sleeping bag..........maybe i spent too much time under a hootchie and in an issue sleeping bag....OK i may have to if i get to fill my dream of hiking to base camp

If the weather looks like crap we put the quick shade up, that also gets us out of the rain to cook a meal.
I had a canvas person look over the Roo swag & she was very impressed with the build quality.
We are rapped with it.

Just sold my Oztent this morning, so looks like I will be buying one of these soon also :)
do you get condensation build up in the top? used to get this all the time with my RV1.

Leroy we have had non of that so i cannot confirm or deny this problem with the Roo swag over the long distance.
no worries, just picked mine up this afternoon (was going to wait a week but there was only 3 in stock till november so i bit the bullet and got it today)
must say you were not lying when you said it was big! its just as big as my old oztent.
I will probably setup under a tarp or something as i did with my oztent anyway to remove the condensation issue.
were you able to get yours into the bag easy enough? on my own I struggled, and I only added a fitted sheet and top sheet to the mattress, I had hoped to be able to roll up a think blanket inside also. . . doesn't seem that will be possible.

We only roll it up with the mattress in it.
We only use a polar flees as bottom sheet & two hiking sleeping bags if cool. We only use the quick shade if it looks like rain. In our last trip no rain cool nights with no problems.
Just need to finish the rack to house the swag.
