Got a Bourke and wills swag had for about 8 years being fantastic
Put a self inflating mattress on top of the mattress and now to get in and out of it with ease
I've now put in on a Darche stretcher And has improved it 100%
Best way to go I think
We've had two Saul swags for about 10 years and they've survived lots of mistreatment, such as the boys taking them for sleeping on the beach while surfing and being chucked around in the bush. Ours cost about $250 each. They are basic, with a good thick mattress, but they are not domes like the more recent fancy ones.
Be fussy about the mattress and the quality of the canvas, screens and zips.
Once you get it home, zip it up, hang it up outside and hose it thoroughly to make the canvas swell and seal better. Then spray it with waterproofer.
I recommend you throw a plastic sheet under it on the ground to keep it clean and dry. You will become an expert at avoiding dips in the ground when camping outside.
We sometimes use ours for visitors to roll out on the loungeroom floor.
Darche seem to have a good reputation now. Anaconda also has a good range.

A mate gave me a couple of genuine Land Rover swags - I;ve never unrolled them yet.... better as they might be a bit musty ?
Anyway I think they ought to keep the water off - plenty of oil and all that....
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Yeah I do, its great, plenty of room, easy to set up and pack up, well made, very comfy and warm. Spent a couple of days in the high country with some mates, it rained for 2 days straight, I can out better than the others. We all had different brand swags, some are mentioned in this thread
some real good info an tips guys, thanks heaps.
by the way any one want to sell one, I may just be interested...!
I have had two ARB swags and both leaked, I couldn't get them sealed and when you look at the seam work between the poly floor and the canvas they will never completely seal as the poly floor won't swell during seasoning !! I got refunds from ARB and then went and purchased AOS Trekker swags for the family, yes they are expensive but very good quality workmanship, very good canvas and Aussie made, we have a double and the kids have a KS each. Just spent 2 weeks at Fraser Island with them, minimum 70 mm mattress for me. Cheapest price is from Wild Earth online with free delivery.
How long ago did you get your Arb swags? I heard this was a problem early on, and was sure this was attended too.. I weathered mine well, and it performed well, better than mates with Burke and wills and darche swags. I'm happy
