    Rechargeable Camping lanterns

Any of you guys got a decent size LED camping lantern????
I have a Coleman Retro Rechargeable Fluro light.Have been very happy with its light output and battery life.Anyhow all good things come to an end Its globe has died, they are $5.00 in USA,but those with them on EBay dont post to Australia.I have found them in 1 WA camping store, for $27.95ea I refused to pay that.
Now looking for a full size LED Rechargeable Lantern to replace it(either plug in recharge or rechargeable batteries).Would love to hear what you guys recomend. No fuel type lanterns as it get used as a house light in power blackouts.
    Thanks

I have the Coleman LED version - it is pretty good - robust and has a hand crank in it so you don't even need a charger if you are happy to wind it up for a few minutes.

Light output is ok, but not brilliant. Battery life is very good.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

The only way to fly is led.We have several types of coleman CPX6 rechargeables,They are great, the batteries can be used in any of the lights and they also have a spare battery pack that takes 4 'c'cells as a backup.I too have a coleman retro lantern,it's been good also.By the way, don't buy cheap lights.

We've got the Coleman retro fluoro jobbie. Lead acid battery karked it pretty quick.

We just use it as a night light for the kids now, plugged into the main camper battery.

Kind of a waste of $100.

I've been using a "Bat Light" from Bunnings for a couple of years now.
Its not a 360deg light, but I've found it really useful for general camp use and working on the landy. Normally have it out in the shed for when I just need a little extra light but don't want to drag out a lead light.
    $29 last time I saw.
I think I get about 4 hours out of a fully charged one with both LED panels switched on. They do take a few hours to charge is about the only downside I've found.

We have found that we use general lighting a lot less now that we have decent head lights. Bought some 1W lithium ion ones from eBay for around $25 each delivered. Both had minor quality issues that needed sorting out (broken wire to switch connection on one, and the battery connector plate needed a slight tweak to get a good connection on the other) but once sorted they have been awesome.

    Maybe try Amazon

    Hello from Brisbane.

I was wondering if you had actually tried to get them via Amazon or similar?

I Googled the Coleman lamp and bulb on Amazon and up came a few outlets, including a chat string of people arguing that you could/couldn't get the bulbs from Coleman or elsewhere anymore. Apparently Walmart carry them as regular stock etc etc. Worth a try to see if any of these ships ex-US before you toss it away.

For what it's worth I bought a fairly good-looking Chinese LED wall mount/carry lamp in Zimbabwe last year for US$45 and, unfortunately, it failed to take its first recharge............. Bought exactly the same lamp as a twin pack with carrying case and cords in Johannesburg earlier this year for US$29 and they are working perfectly. I had seen the Zimbabwe-sourced lamp in a game camp and the manager had told me that he hadn't had any problems with them and the department store that I tracked it down was a reasonably reputable operation.

So, I guess it's luck of the draw on these things.

    Cheers,

We got a coleman LED lantern about 6 months ago , and although it works well in all ways , it seems to throw most of the light into your eyes rather than where you need it .
Because of this really annoying trait we hardly use it anymore .
Just got an LED rope light to take its place .
