I have one of these.........
High Powered Light Bars - Products - Narva
It's the base model. Quite bright considering its size. Spreads a good white beam out the back.
I don't have it mounted permanently on a roof rack,(as i don't have a roof rack) it hangs from two hooks designed to hang, hanging baskets, from the inside, with a flexible 5mtr cable I made up, so I can use the light for other things.
But the light is very strong and reliable. Has been dropped a couple of times, and doesn't mind the rain.

Can't help on brand, I don't remember what I've got. But these are my observations, I have a led on the back and another on the left. They are not very big but very bright. I had the same idea as you, a light for setting up camp and for cooking. In honesty they get there main use as brilliant reversing lights. They are just too bright, you are blinded if you are in the campsite and look towards the vehicle.
And the worst is the number of bugs they attract, and generally attract them to an open vehicle so the vehicle is also full of bugs.

I've often thought of trying to make up a diffuser to fit over them when in camp use.

Great idea, but now I mostly set up a light away from camp so the light falls on me but bugs are attracted away.

I have one of Murray's 30W light bars on the wheel carrier and it's fantastic as a reversing/flood light, I set it up so I can swivel it too. 180W one on the front so I can see

I have these fitted on my vehicle they are available in either spot, flood of diffused which might be best suited for your application. You can get them at ARB stores

Really small unit and the best lumen output when I was checking

For camping, you only really need small LED lights. LED light bars are way too bright.

I have something like the one below -



I have these mounted up under the rear end of the roofrack, and have left the mounting loose enough so that I can twist them around to point wherever I want. Usually leave one pointing out the back and one out to the side under the awning when camped - I have wired individual "in-line" switches on them so that I can turn on either or both.

When not used for camping, I leave both pointing to the rear and switched on at the "local" switches. They can be turned on / off from another switch in the car which has a red LED warning light on it to let me know that they are on. Good enough for a bit of extra light when reversing etc.

The body of the light is slightly less than 2 inches square, so easy to mount tucked up out of the way, and they are not "obvious".

I would go LED strip, not a bar

I fitted a supercheap LED worklight ($60) to a camping pole from Big W ($10) to the rear wheel carrier of the disco ($10 of bolts, $5 of wiring). This allows the light to be raised up real high and be turned, but also drops down below roof line.
We set up camp after dark most nights for a week and it was fantastic, will be the first thing I fit to the next car. There are a few threads of people who have done something similar.
For extra points I had already attached a few hooks to the tent pole, so we can hang a solar shower or clothes line from it too.
