I find these hanging storage thingies from Ikea invaluable.
Packs down to nothing, weighs nothing. I hang it off a pole under whatever awning goes up and put all the fruit and vegies in it as well as keys, lighters, etc.
We spent over $40k on our second one by the time we had a few additions but its money well spent. Everything slides in and out. The kayaks go on the boat loader, folding trailer on the front. Once I get the iSi bike carrier sorted out the bikes will go on the back and within 10 minutes of pulling in somewhere for an overnight stop we can have the tent up and dinner on.
The other plus is they hold their value for good quality Aussie made campers. We had our first camper for 2years and when we traded it in they gave us $6k less than we paid for it so we were pretty happy for that. $3k per year isn't that much compared to hotel rooms.
