    Coleman Event Canopy

Coleman - Event 14 Standard with sunwall - Event 14 Standard with sunwall

Anyone used one of these, or alternate:
    Reason i am looking:
    Avoid necessity for roof rack
Vehicle is still mobile, once camp set up
    Reasonable size & weight
    Cheap compared to alternative solutions

    but,
    Probably fiddly to set up.

    FOUND THIS,
    Diamantina Escape Portable Gazebo

With a couple of side walls, should give good shelter. I recently bought one of their tents, very happy.

And, i see Coleman do not provide spares in Australia, i dont see how they get away with that

Don't have one myself, but my neighbour does, (do they do a 16' version? I think his is 16') He swears by it, camps and picnics often both from vehicle and boat. We've only joined them once while it was in use and it seemed to go up and down quite easily and gave impressive shade while up.

    Talking about coleman gazebo.

Have used several in different environments in Britain.
They're excelent. Reasonably wind resitant, UV proof and, despite their advertising not mentioning, they're waterproof.
    Very good value.

How would you know it is UV resistant in Britain?

I have one and its great, first time was a bit trcky to set it up but after that no worries .

Its great when we go camping for a few days or more as they provide a lot of shade and at night time i have plenty of space to hang the LEDs from, for my family of 5 we fit nicely.

used it this year up north while camping and the wind pick up which didnt bother the shade at all, i have found it much better then the other pop up sahdes and its lighter to carry.

Whereas the actual fabric might be waterproof the actual seams are not waterproof.

Care is needed if it gets windy. It is possible to make a pole to attach to central plastic roof fitting which stops it collapsing. Better guying then the guy ropes provide are needed in windy condition. Also you can make a webbing square with guy ropes to go over the top to stop it lifting in the wind.

Good in calm conditions but need extra guying if likely to get windy.

Hi, we have this and have taken it camping numerous times with friends. A bit fiddly to put up and you really need 2 people to put it up quickly. It came with one sidewall so we purchased another 2 as the winds move around and in cold/wet weather it provides some shelter having more than one sidewall. Easy to quickly move a sidewall when the winds change.

Always best to peg it down and have the ropes attached though for anything more than an overnighter.

Can hang a lamp off the top middle using rope or hooks to give light all round.

Can't really fault ours other than the rolled bag it came in splitting easily and scraping when wheeling.
