    Bunya Mountains

Anyone know if any of the camp sites have fireplaces? As expected, the government info is pretty vague.

    Open fires: Prohibited.

    Burtons Well camping area
Open fires: In fireplaces only, except when fire bans or prohibitions apply. Please use the supplied firewood sparingly and make sure your fire is out before you leave it; extinguish with water, not sand or dirt. Fuel or gas stoves are recommended.

Last update November 2013 so who knows now??? Dandabah also looks like the only camping where you can camp next to your vehicle, the others I guess have bollards. Good old parks, making the parks as unattractive as possible in the name of management.

Sure enough, wood BBQs only, no fire rings. I guess you could sit aorund (or in front) of a wood BBQ, but not quite the same.

We ended up at Koehler Park (Koehler Park, Moola, QLD | CaravanCaravan) just down the hill. Lovely little spot by the creek (albeit a bit dry) with good steel BBQs (different to those in the photos), with some firewood at all of them which looked supplied by someone, clean toilets, nobody else there until a caravan arrived about 8pm, and no charge. Probably wouldn't go camping there for the weekend, but a great stop-over for bushwalking in the mountains.

Whilst there were no fire-rings as such, we re-used a makeshift fireplace, keeping the fire small and contained.
