Thread: Small fridges

I have a chinese 31 ltr fridge in my truck
It was off ebay $470.00 for a xmas gift and has been excellent runs about 14 hours a day .
The instructions say its a evacool

I have a Waeco ......I think CF 11.
It works well as the compressor is the same as the bigger models, but has to chill a smaller space.
It would be a perfect fit to replace the centre console on a defender 130.
The lid I think can be reversed.
It can also be sat on a seat and the seat belt used to stop it moving due to clever design.
The voltage cut off works well enough.
I like the fact it is light and small enough to take out of the vehicle and carry it with the shoulder sling while full.
It will run all day off a normal cheapo car jump starter pack if used out side the vehicle.
The draw backs are
The small size means it doesn't hold much,but is off set by its grunt and to chill stuff quickly you have placed inside or to quickly freeze.
The purchase price is not good, but no one else seems to be making a proper compressor fridge that small.
I am not a fan of Waeco fridges, but the small size appears to eliminate all the Waeco problems of plastic construction and electronic board faults.
Happy with mine.

I've replaced the centre console with waeco CDF11's in both my 130's. They've performed flawlessly. I can fit a dozen or so cans in, although only the 330ml ones fit standing upright in the dairy compartment. They work pretty hard on sunny days when parked up and the cab is hot - but my cars are covered in solar panels, so all seems to balance out. No need for any switches in the installation - just turn off the fridge on the unit itself.
